Training from a wheelchair in puppy kindergarten
I didn't think a cavalier King Charles spaniel could do anything but lay on your lap and look pretty
Aw!
I love how well he is indicating it is the right box.
Wait what is he smelling?
It's birch scent. It's an unusual smell that the dog is unlikely to smell in their everyday life, but is commonly used in scentwork competitions.
Cute dog❤❤
Thanks! I think so, too! He he he!
I get my working dogs pup cups all the time.. lol
Still very impressed! Rascal accidentally snagged a few people by accident I was very embarrassed but he got better in the end. I can barely leave the house so I try my best with my dog's training out in public
Thanks! It's hard to keep up training when you aren't going out very often!
I’m so glad you’re small dog is helping you! ❤❤❤
Thank you!
That's very cute. I love taxidermy and I hope to go to a taxidermy show or convention some day with my service dog.
how heavy are each piece?
I think the heaviest piece is about 40 lbs. The two wheel assemblies are the heaviest parts, the seat is a little lighter, and the battery and basket are super light. Alltogether the whole thing weighs 114 lbs.
@@VeronicaAndBradMorris TY
Oh! Thats cool! I think my dog would give it a look and be like “mom, why th is this tinny dog looking at me???”
This was so helpful. Thank you. Mine just got delivered today and I was taking it out of the box and trying to figure out how to put it together.
Glad to help! Hope you love your as much as I love mine!
Does he go lay under the seat while in the air? Ik you could probably fit a small blanket so he could get some rest.
He’d rather be on my lap lol
@ does he get lists of treats? My dog has never been in the air, so Ik she’d get lots of treats
@nola.that.service-dog No, I don't really give him lots of treats when we fly.
It looks so clean and useable. Plenty of space for multiple dogs and your wheelchair. Well done, Charlotte Airport!
You get a subscription from me thsnx!
Who cares
That's so rude! This is for ppl with sds ar ppl who like sds
Those of us who travel with service dogs care greatly about where our dogs can relieve themselves comfortably before and after flights. Last time I was at the Charlotte airport, there was only one square of ground outside the terminal, which meant my SD had to pee outside, then we had to go through TSA lines, then wait for our flight. This is an area post-security, which is excellent. Yeah, we care.
Not a service dog
Is that yelping Felix?
To many cripples rolling around.
I never knew why that was there.
I hope every human on earth watches this😂
I heard a dog screaming? Is that felix excited to work?
Beeep beeep beeep
SOMETIMES PEOPLE ARE RUDE 😮 I HAPPY U PUT THIS OUT THIER PEOPLE THINK BEFORE PARKING 😮😢😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Show some respect for the disabled
Hey, it's me again! 😊 I wanted to give you an update since a lot changed about rascal (my service dog in training.) I commented on another video about how insecure I was and your advice helped a lot. Rascal now ignores people completely! And the sniffing has heavily died down. Still makes mistakes but he's 11-12 months old and still learning. He now does blocks by going behind me and creating space and he completely ignores people walking by. No sniffs or interest. He also heavily improved on heeling. When you reassured me about the perfect heel and how it's not as serious, rascal got better at it! He probably got better because I was more calm about it and not so worried about mistakes. Thank you ❤️
Thank you so much! This comment warms my heart! Your pup is still very young, so I'm sure your trajectory will just be up from here! Don't forget, though, that training is like a series of hills and valleys. So long as the overall trajectory is up, it's OK to have peaks and valleys in your training.
Omg what an adorable doggo
Thanks!
Thank you for showing working trough fears! Lots of people say a service dog cant be fearful or distracted. I was even told my dog wouldn't make it, but when I see videos like this or people talking about fearful service dogs im encouraged to keep trying
I think anytime you have a prospect, SDIT, or SD, who has a fear, it's a good idea to get a professional involved. They can assess the fear, how it impacts their working ability, and help you figure out a way through it. Felix is afraid of heights, and also has issues in the bakery and fish/meat sections of the grocery store. I have consulted with professionals about these, work on them on a regular basis, and they do not interfere with his ability to be safe and happy in public and assist me.
What is felix for? I haven't seen any videos of him tasking or alerting
His main work is pressure therapy when am having anxiety or depression. He also does grounding. I hope he will eventually pick up an alert like my previous SDs have, but he is only 2 so that might be still to come. I have posted videos of him working, but they are just not as common as my videos of public access training.
Is he still in training or a full service dog?
@@Rescuedogtoworkingdog-gm7hf He's a full service dog, but training never ends! This outing he was particularly rusty because we had overdone with taking care of my parents so much and had to go on a month and a half vacation from training outings. This was his first day back to working.
I have a question..just curious, you don't have to answer but why do you have wings on your wheelchair?
For fun!
@VeronicaAndBradMorris thank you for answering, felix is doing great by the way!
@@Rescuedogtoworkingdog-gm7hf Thanks!
Seriously, when is somebody gonna open up a mommy-doggie duel hair salon-grooming service?
Ha ha ha ha!
It's the noise. Our little Chin girl is so sensitive to loudness.
I really like how you are giving him the choice without encouraging him vocally to get on the table.

It's really paying off. Good job

Great work both of you!
Thanks!
If the inaccessibility weren’t enough….. that voice lol
This feels like a reportable offense. Doctors offices have got to be required to be accessible by wheelchair… right?
Yeah, I'm sure it's reportable.
That's awful! What if it was something you didn't want everyone to hear?
Too bad for me, I guess!
Sounds like a needed break for you both! One of B's favorite 'vacations' is a sniffy vacation. Hiding treats all over the yard and having her sniff them out.
For sure! Unfortunately we're playing that game right now with rabbit poop LOL, though I am desperately trying to prevent him from eating the tasty snacks in the yard!
Can we get a top view of him getting his treat?
I'll try but we're taking a vacation from working this month to de-stress, and I'm not sure the phone will attach to the wheelchair anywhere that will be able to get that view. But I'll do my best!
@@VeronicaAndBradMorris ok! Thank you! He’s really cute!! “This cutie is on duty”
@@Nola.Just.That.Service.Doodle Thanks!
I love your content! I have a service dog in training and it's nice to know that he doesn't need an exact heel all the time. I'm so scared of someone fake spotting me in public because my puppy doesn't have a perfect heel and accidentally sniffs things sometimes
Thank you! A perfect heel is definitely not needed! Loose leash walking is helpful, but isn't even required in the US for a dog to be a service dog. I find loose leash walking to meet my needs and be more comfortable for my dog than a formal heel all the time. Just do what works best for you and your dog, so long as you're not disruptive.
@@VeronicaAndBradMorris Thank you! I struggle with anxiety and the fake spotting videos really scare me. I feel so much better seeing these types of videos. It shows me that real service dogs don't need a heel 100% of the time and it's okay. And my dog is small like yours. He's a Chinese Crested
@@VeronicaAndBradMorris My puppy is still in training too. He makes mistakes and when someone tries and distract him, he gets all excited to meet someone. He does sniff in the pet section or really strong scent areas but I'm correcting him as we go.
@@xXxKatelynxXx22 The fake spotting videos are terrible! I refuse to watch them! I don't even like calling dogs "fakes" because often the person really does have a disability and the dog helps their person, but just doesn't have the public access training or is having a bad day. My dogs (I've had 4 SDs) have all had bad days and done things like barked, pooped, or something like that in a store. Even when fully trained! Our dogs are not robots and they should not be expected to be! They can make mistakes. It's all about how we handle our dogs' mistakes. For minor mistakes we should be training them in the moment. For major mistakes, we should apologize, leave, work on training for that situation elsewhere, and then return to that situation prepared to train. There's a really nice FB group for small SD handlers that you might like to join. Most everyone there is in the same mindset. Here's the link: facebook.com/groups/1082072372405020 . It's really nice to surround yourself with like minded positive people instead of those who pounce on every mistake to make you feel horrible! You might also like to follow my blog at www.doctorv.xyz to see what we get up to on a regular basis :)
@@VeronicaAndBradMorris thank you very much ❤️ Hearing this really helps. I'm very insecure so the reassurance is really helpful I'm going to look at the links. Thank you once again 🙏
He did good ❤❤
Thanks!
Love the vest
He’s doing good
Awww Good job

What is SNAP?
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as food stamps
@ Thanks. Learn something new everyday. Didn’t know they changed it from food stamps.
@@ibukunsworld3981 The term food stamps has a negative connotation so it's been changed to SNAP. Also, you don't get stamps anymore. It used to be you would get stamps and each stamp would be for a particular product. Like you'd get 4 bread stamps a month, 2 butter stamps a month, etc, and you would hand over the paper stamp for each product you got. But nowadays it's all done by EBT or electronic balance transfer. So you get a credit card looking thing that has the SNAP money on it in electronic form and you can spend it on whatever food items you want. So often you'll see signs that say "EBT accepted here" if they accept SNAP. In my state (South Carolina) you can only buy cold food with your EBT card. So like I can go to Publix and get a sub from their deli if it is a cold sub. But if they toast the sub, then suddenly it's not eligible for EBT anymore. Papa Murphy's take and bake pizza accepts EBT for the unbaked pizza. But if you have them bake the pizza for you (which they will do for free), then EBT doesn't cover it. It's a really weird system. In other states you can get hot food with EBT and some fast food restaurants accept EBT. This is actually super helpful as many disabled people have a hard time cooking and preparing food. So it would be nice if there were a way to get a hot meal with EBT instead of just ingredients or frozen meals that you pop in the microwave. Just because we're poor doesn't mean we don't deserve to eat out every once in a while!
OMGGG I HAD NO IDEA SERVICE DOGS COULD BE SO SMALL!! Thats super cute!! Does his size ever make it difficult for him to properly help you? (If its okay to ask)
Thanks! He's actually the perfect size for me! I need him to provide pressure on my chest when I have anxiety attacks, and he's small enough that I can carry him and he can provide pressure and I can go about my day with no one the wiser. Help on the go! But before I got small service dogs, I tried it out with bags of flour and cans and such to see what minimum weight I need to assist me with my anxiety. For me, 5 lbs is enough. But for other people, they may need more weight. So it really depends on the person.
My chin is so picky eater 😢 What kind of food does your chin eat?
My Chin all eat a homemade diet.
